Full description
Leaving from Reykjavik’s old harbor, you’ll sail in style on the Andrea, the largest whale-watching ship in Iceland. In the summer, you can also join an express tour on a faster express whale watching boat. The waters off Reykjavik are rich with aquatic life. Most commonly spotted creatures are minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises – and even humpback whales. The Andrea features spacious public viewing areas as well as a deck that offers fantastic 360-degree views of the stunning environment. There’s a café on board that serves a range of refreshments and a souvenir shop. The experience is built on a special Educational focus, with a microscope, baleens, and whale teeth on board for passengers to learn about the whales and other sea life. Humpback Whales are often spotted from the boat as well as Minke Whales, White Beaked Dolphins, Harbor Porpoises and occasionally Orcas. Knowledgeable guides are available to answer any questions you may have and to help you spot these wonderful creatures of the deep.

All staff members were helpful and kind. Despite not seeing any dolphins or whales on our first trip it was still an amazing day. My son loved looking at all the information on the lower deck too. Would highly recommend. Also take some sunscreen between the sun and sea we got a little sun on our cheeks.

The guides were friendly and very informative. I really enjoyed the talk about whales and showing us of the vertebrae of various types of whales which puts into perspective the size of them and the dangers of whaling. It was a shame we didn't get to see any whales however we are able to book another day free of charge. Facilities were also good- there were warm overalls and anti sickness tablets available though the sea was relatively calm when we went.

Of course it is a matter of luck whether you see a whale or not. However, the crew does everything to make a sighting. You also get some interesting information about the animals that can be seen. Free tablets are available for those who get seasick quickly. If it is too cold for you, you can go below deck or rent one of the warm overalls. We were lucky enough to be very close to a humpback whale. Our guide took some photos of the animals themselves, which you can view online the day after the tour.
