The guides were very friendly and explained everything well. BjorkVin (“Mr. B”) knows how to drive on very rough terrain to get out to the site, which was an adventure in its own! Snowmobiling is harder than it looks, but it was fun!! It started snowing pretty heavy when we began the ride. Very hard to see distance in full blown falling snow, but again I like an adventure :) I recommend using the gloves they offer you! I thought my “waterproof” gloves would work fine, they did NOT. FYI: If you are singing up to only ride on the back (second seat), just know it is also a workout. Holding on and balancing on the machine with your partner… you will have sore muscles the next day!!

Join a 1 hour Exhilarating Snowmobile Adventure on Langjökull Glacier!

Hop on a snowmobile ride for an unforgettable afternoon zooming on the snowy slopes. You’ll be talking about your adventure on Iceland’s second largest glacier for years to come! Welcome to the wintry world of glaciers in Iceland!

Meet us at Skjól between Geysir Geothermal Area and Gullfoss Waterfall. From there we hop on board our Super Jeep for a ride up to our glacier base camp, there you'll receive all the necessary gear, including a snowmobile suit, gloves, balaclava, and helmet, before your professional glacier snowmobiling guide provides safety instructions. Then, embark on your one-hour snowmobile excursion, exploring Langjökull Glacier's enormous ice-filled volcanic craters, surrounded by imposing volcanoes and set in the breathtaking Icelandic interior.

Marvel at the incredible views from the flanks of Langjökull, with Eiríksjökull glacier, the dome-shaped Hofsjökull glacier, and the Kerlingafjöll Mountain range in the distance. Your thrilling adventure on Langjokull's wintry icy slopes is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories.

Know before you go

  • The tour price is per person, sharing a snowmobile with another participant. If you travel solo or if there’s an odd number of travelers, you must book a single ride supplement for an additional fee.
  • A valid driver's license is required to operate a snowmobile.
  • Please dress according to the weather in Iceland. Wear warm, comfortable clothing, a waterproof outer layer, sturdy hiking boots, gloves, and a wool/fleece hat.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before departure at Skjól. The tour takes place outside of Reykjavík (a 1.5-hour long drive) transport is not included.

Unforgettable Experience – Highly Recommended! This is an incredible activity that you’ll remember for a long time if you choose to take part. Top tip: Bring a change of clothes—especially socks, trousers, and shoes. If you’re not wearing wellington boots that come up to mid-calf, you’re likely to get wet. Alternatively, consider investing in high waterproof overshoes that reach up to the knee. You’ll be fully suited up for the ride, so no need for a heavy winter coat. The team was fantastic—thoroughly explaining how the snowmobiles work, what to expect, and guiding us throughout the journey. The ride to and from the glacier can be bumpy, but it's all part of the fun!
