Get the opportunity to go as close as you possibly can to the center of the earth in Jules Verne story and choose to join a cave exploration of Vatnshellir cave, an 8000-year-old lava tube cave. If you prefer, join your guide for a walking tour around the area inside Snaefellsnes National Park. Before visiting the stunning beach of Djupalonssandur, make a lunch stop at Hellnar. The dramatic black pebble stone beach of Djupalonssandur is sure to take your breath away. Here, go on a short hike and explore the remains of an old ship wreckage. Before arriving at your accommodation for the night, stop by the famous Mt. Kirkjufell, which is the country's most photographed mountain. Day two: West Iceland to Reykjavik After a nourishing breakfast at your accommodation, continue your exploration of Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Drive along the scenic coast of West Iceland to see more of the diversified landscape characterizing the peninsula. First up is the powerful hot spring of Deildartunguhve, better known for being the most powerful hot spring in all of Europe. The second highlight of the day is the historic site of Reykholt where the famous author Snorri Stuluson used to live. After drinking in the history of Reykholt, continue your journey to the magnificent waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. The water flowing through the lava field is a sight like no other so make sure to bring your camera along. Leaving Borgarfjordur town behind, take the return trip to Reykjavik.
