Full description
Snorkeling in the Silfra fissure is a unique and exotic underwater experience. Frequently rated as one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Silfra offers up to 100 m (300 ft) of underwater visibility. The cold waters here melt off a glacier 50 km (30 miles) away, and make their way through lava fields to beautiful Thingvellir Lake. Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates and offers amazing underwater views. Admire views of Iceland's stunning landscape as you ride from Reykjavik to the heart of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. You'll go snorkeling in this amazing location for an hour with your guide, before returning to the warmth of the tour van and heading back to Reykjavik.

This was one of the best experiences I've had during my week is Iceland. Our arctic adventures driver and the guide at Silfra (Goran) were absolutely wonderful, answered any questions, gave lots of information, were so helpful (I was there solo with no one to really help me in and out of stuff) and they were a great laugh. Silfra itself is an experience of a lifetime. Your body doesn't feel any cold in the water - just your hands, feet and face, but it's not that bad in my opinion. Prepare to be completely buckled up with tight and bulky gear from head to toe. I hope to one day come back here.

Really cool activity! You’ll feel less cold than you’d expect. The guides are amazing and they do everything to make you feel comfortable. Totally worth it! If it was summer I probably would have done it with the wetsuit... you don’t get much freedom with the drysuit but you’ll be definitely warm!

This may have been the coolest thing I did in Iceland, I've never snorkled before, the location is insane! the water is so clear, the staff are very nice and supportive, the cold only affects your hands and face. They take pictures and you have 3000 Isk for all of them ( you don't have to do it per person ). Highly recommend this activity even if you've never Snorkeled before
