Snorkeling in the Silfra fissure is a unique and exotic underwater experience. Frequently rated as one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Silfra offers up to 100 m (300 ft) of underwater visibility.
The cold waters here melt off a glacier 50 km (30 miles) away, and make their way through lava fields to beautiful Thingvellir Lake. Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates and offers amazing underwater views.
Admire views of Iceland's stunning landscape as you ride from Reykjavik to the heart of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. You'll go snorkeling in this amazing location for an hour with your guide, before returning to the warmth of the tour van and heading back to Reykjavik.

Meeting point
If you do not require pick-up from Reykjavík, then meet at the Silfra parking lot. Directions to park: park at Thingvellir Parking P5 (can be found on google maps). This is the 2nd car park, 400m further down the road from where you'll be diving from. Directions to meet your guide: Walk 400m back along the road until you reach the car park with all the snorkel and dive vans. Your guide will be waiting here. There are other companies at the site so make sure you go to the right one and show your voucher. Please be ready to meet your guide 15 minutes prior to tour start time.

Know before you go
• Participants need to be comfortable in the water and be able to swim
• Pregnant women are unable to participate due to the small risk of cold water entering the suit
• Duration: between 3-5 hours depending on pick-up or meeting point
• Minimum age: 12 years old and over 45kg and 150cm tall
• Remember to bring: warm undergarments, preferably fleece/wool (no cotton!), warm woolen socks and a change of clothes (just in case) - you will get a specially made suit to keep you warm and dry in the glacier water
