Full description

See the best of southwest Iceland on an 8-hour Golden Circle tour by bus from Reykjavik. Visit the spectacular Geysir area, and go to the cascades of Gullfoss Waterfall. Discover where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet in Þingvellir National Park. Travel to the geothermal area of Geysir. Marvel as the active hot spring of Strokkur spouts steaming water 30 meters into the air every 8 minutes.

Continue to one of Iceland’s most iconic features at the Gullfoss Waterfall (“Golden Falls“). Feel the spray of the waters of the glacial River Hvítá as it plummets down into a 32-meter deep crevice. Next, enter Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimeters per year.

Þingvellir was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural value in 2004, and is the site of a stunning rift valley and the Rock of Law, the first Viking parliament. Marvel at the volcanic crater at Lake Kerið, and pass through the Icelandic farms of the south on your drive around the Golden Circle, before returning to your original starting point in Reykjavik.

We had an excellent tour seeing all the attractions with plenty of time to enjoy them. The weather was very sunny. The guide was informative, if a little flippant at times. Outstanding value for money. The only problem was they would not pick us up from the cruise port. This meant an expensive taxi or bus ride, or a 2 mile walk at start and end of the day. Cruise tourists should be supported.

We booked the tour for 9 June, 10.30 pm but was informed the day before that it had been changed to 9 am with no reason given for the change until we asked repeatedly. Reason: not enough bookings for 10.30am! So we were forced to leave earlier. Worst - the tour pick up 50 people at the start and then dropped some of them at several places. Then there was a mistake and we had to circle back again. The entire process wasted more than an hour before the tour actually took place. So we are not sure if our tour was cut short in the end. The saving grace was our tour guide Yona and the driver Magic. She was very informative and shared interesting facts and info about the country, history, culture and places we visited. She was sharing almost non-stopping. She also took us to "additional' scenic spot as we had to drop a couple along the way at a lagoon. Beside these disruptions, overall not a bad tour and we did enjoy ourselves despite the false start. The bus is comfortable.

Our guide Rose and the driver Magic were amazing. Rose shared a lot of interesting facts and personal stories in an engaged manner and Magic drove really well. I did feel a little bit tight time-wise on the stops but all in all I totally recommend this experience and I had a fantastic day and a lot of value for the money. Thanks for helping me and my parents see the beauty of Iceland Rose and Magic.
