Full description
After a drive to Vik, hop on a super-jeep and take a seat with your fellow adventurous companions. Fasten your seatbelt for a 40-minute off-road ride into the wilderness. On the way, listen to stories about the Katla volcano, its destructive eruptions, and irreversible consequences from your guide.
Also, hear about tales and facts related to this fascinating and remote area in the South of Iceland as you soak in breathtaking views on the drive. Before entering the cave, receive all your gear and safety instructions.
Reach up the glacier hill to access the geological wonder of Katla Ice Cave, located in Kötlujökull glacier which is an icefall of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Underneath the glacier waits the mighty Katla volcano where both the glacier and the ice cave take their names from.
At the end of your exploration, make your way back to the meeting point in Vik, from where your driver will take you to Reykjavik.
