What to Expect
Marvel at the volcanic landscapes of Iceland’s famous Golden Circle above and below ground on a combined sightseeing tour and lava cave activity.
Following a pick-up from your hotel in Reykjavik, transfer to the stunning Þingvellir National Park. A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Þingvellir has played a central role in Iceland's geology and history. See where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates pull apart at a rate of a few centimeters per year, and discover the location of the first Viking parliament.
Next, enter the Geysir geothermal area to see where the Strokkur geyser shoots water up to 98 feet into the air every 4-8 minutes. Drive to the most powerful waterfall in Iceland at the Gullfoss Waterfall (“Golden Waterfall”), and watch the waters of the glacial River Hvítá plummet down a 32-meter deep crevice.
Then, gear-up to explore the landscape below ground. Put on your helmet and torch to follow your guide into the cave, and enter a lava tube on a thrilling caving activity. Admire the lava formations of Iceland's underground world, and learn more about the creation of the landscape.
