Full description

From the Southern tip of Lofoten (Lofotodden National park), sail through the Moskenes current towards the island of Værøy. Cross one of the strongest currents in the world and sail along the shores of several little islands. Pass through the habitats of marine wildlife and seabird, with chances to see eagles, puffins, seals, killer whales, and more.

During the trip, the guides on board will be on the lookout and share their knowledge of the wildlife, history, and geography of this specific area.

When arriving at Værøy, the boat will be docked for about 4 hours to provide the freedom to choose how to spend your time there.

One of the options is to hike Håen (Håheia), the second highest peak on the island. The start of this hike is located about 3,5 km from the harbour. The actual hike up the mountain (highest point 438m) can take up to one hour and once you have reached the top you will get to enjoy the most incredible views.

You can as well explore the island on your own either by foot or bicycle. Walk around the small town center of Sørland, head for Røssnesvåg and the lighthouse, cycle along the coast towards Nordland and visit the oldest church in Lofoten that is still in use or pass by the abandoned airport runway.

Within the given time, you could also sign up for guided tours and activities provided by local businesses.

The boat will depart again from Værøy at 3:30 PM. On the way back the search for wildlife continues and the kiosk on board will be open, serving food and drinks. Same as on departure, you can choose which place you want to disembark, from Å, Reine or Hamnøy.

The boat trip was good, also the guidance the weather was exceptionally good June 28. Too bad we didn't see orcas or puffins. Too bad, but ok. Vaeroy does not have much to offer. The bicycle rental at the containers is unbelievably bad, it is very expensive for what you get, even unsafe, cycling with back pedal brakes in a mountainous environment should be banned. These bicycles are certainly not suitable for the location. The landlords are friendly, but all this. Not recommended UNSAFE. The problem is when you arrive there is no other option to get to location for wildlife. What would make Vaeroy attractive, so hoping for improvement in the future after having been on the Lofoten 4 times in total 4 months, we can make a conclusion how it is in all kinds of locations, Too bad it will soon be with too many campers on the most beautiful place in the world. PS compliments to the Captain crew and tour guidance Karine and Peter
