Full description

Explore one of the great wine-producing areas of France on a small group tour of the Champagne region. Taste the sparkling produce of this world-renowned area, with two Traditional Champagne family grower . The vineyard's production is supplemented by the contractual acquisition of grapes from independent suppliers operating the finest vineyards in the Champagne region. En route to Épernay, travel through the Marne Valley vineyards to meet the legendary monk Dom Pérignon who produced the most expensive wines of France in the 17th century and is now buried in the church of the former Benedictine Hautvillers Abbey. Then, visit Épernay, often referred to as the Capital of Champagne Wine, with main streets lined with luxurious mansions. Discover some of the most prestigious names, including Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, and Pol Roger, and learn about the 100 kilometers of tunnels beneath the street. Take a break to enjoy a convivial lunch at t a local restaurant (main course & dessert included) Finally, take a guided tour and enjoy a Champagne tasting at a second family vineyard.

Know before you go

  • Please note the tour departs from the city of Reims. If you are not staying in Reims, you will have to book and pay for your own transport to get there.
  • We recommend to book your tickets in advance :
  • MONDAY to SATURDAY - TGV train 2709 from Paris-Est station at 8.28AM ; Arrival at Reims station at 9.14AM
  • SUNDAY - TGV train 2407 from Paris-Est station at 7.58AM, Arrival at Champagne-Ardenne station at 8.38AM
  • After your tour, any train from Reims station after 5.45PM.
  • Please note that France Intense cannot be held responsible for any train delay or cancellation.
  • PICK UP ON SUNDAY : if you are coming from Paris by train in the morning of the tour, our guide will pick you up at 9.00AM (not 9.30AM) in front of the main entrance of the Champagne-Ardenne station.
  • If you are already staying in Reims on the day before the tour, the meeting point will be at the Tourist Office of the Reims train station at 9.30AM.

The guide, Rodemus was knowledgeable and passionate about champagne as well as being sociable and fun. The two domains provided a great contrast in approach and flavour, and the lunch in Epernay was delicious. On top of that, there were many little drive-bys of interest throughout the day, some gorgeous little villages and wonderful views across the Marne Vally.
