Full description
On this 11-hour tour you’ll follow the coastline from Reykjavík into the volcanic and glaciated wonderland that is Iceland's south coast. Walk behind the thundering veil of spray at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall and take in the incredible views from the top of the Skógafoss waterfall. Your tour begins with a drive through lava fields, passing by the active Hengill volcano, and then down to rich coastal farmlands. On clear days you’ll be able to see the Hekla volcano, and in the distance the glacier-capped Eyjafjallajökull volcano rises majestically above the coastal mountains. Just a few kilometers off the coastline and easily visible are the volcanic Westman Islands, an archipelago of around 15 small islands, only one of which is inhabited. The first stop is at the Sólheimajökull glacier, which is every photographer’s dream. Next on the itinerary is the Reynisfjara black sand beach. See the powerful Atlantic waves crashing on the black sands, the jagged basalt sea stacks and the huge basalt-column cave. Next you’ll head to the coastal village of Vik, the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the island’s main ring road. Despite its small size (291 inhabitants), it is the largest settlement for 70 kilometers. On your way back to Reykjavík, you’ll stop by the powerful Skógafoss waterfall for a short walk up a flight of steps to admire one of Iceland´s most scenic views. The view takes in glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. The last stop is at the 60-meter-high Seljalandsfoss waterfall, best known for the hidden pathway behind and around it.

Our guide BG was amazing. You're lucky if you get him! He was full of cheeky, witty jokes, and he is extremely knowledgeable and insightful. To be honest, I was feeling under the weather. Everyone else in the trip was pretty hyped about everything and so BG was keeping up with their energy. But when he spoke to me, he matched my energy, and treated me kindly with respect. What a great guy! The trip itself was amazing too. We got very wet at the locations, from waterfalls to the black beach. So be prepared for that! It was truly awesome and inspiring. Highly recommend!

Our tour guide Beegee (since I can’t spell his actual name) was the man! He’s got the dad jokes, tells some really good Sagas and was just a fun guide overall. He was also an excellent driver! Thank you for the amazing experience! Worth every penny. Just make sure you wear waterproof clothing or a good /long poncho. You will get soaked one way or another. It’s chilly with the wind and mist from all the locations too so dress warm. Avoid using your expensive cameras unless you weather proof it. Wear decent shoes for the treks. Consider spraying them with Scothguard if they aren’t water resistant. My running shoes were soaked :-( but it was worth it. DO NOT wear sandals/flip flops or fancy shoes. You will regret it.

Due to the bad weather conditions our tour was cut in half and had to return after seeing the waterfall. It's a shame that we do not get compensated back our money as we did pay for a full day and only received half the tour considering the amount of money we paid for. The tour guild was very helpful and funny which help liven the mood up. The waterfall was beautiful.
