Ravello Cathedral

Ravello is one of the most enchanting places of the Amalfi Coast and the dream destination of intellectuals, artists and musicians of the 19th century. It is here that Wagner composed the second act of the Parsifal. The medieval town is set 365 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea. In Ravello, you can enjoy the most enchanting views of the Amalfi Coast, as you are on a suspended terrace between the cobalt blue Tyrrhenian Sea and the Lattari Mountains. You’ll visit the Cathedral of Saint Pantaleone and, through the splendid access tower, you’ll enter into Villa Rufolo, a wonderful medieval site adorned with enchanting gardens.

Positano stands on two mountain slopes in one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the province of Salerno. Enjoy the views of the gulf formed by Germano tip to the west and Cape Sottile to the east. The center of enchanting Positano features delightful white or pastel-colored houses and the parish church of Saint Maria Assunta, with its splendid majolica dome. Amalfi also offers splendid views and evidence of its prestigious past. The Cathedral, dedicated to St.Andrew, dominates the square. Discover the Paradise Cloister, a construction in Arabian-style dating to the thirteenth-century and ruins of the Arsenal of the Republic. Ravello is situated in a more elevated position than the other pearls of the Amalfi Coast and it can boast exceptional landscapes that have earned Villa Cimbrone’s terrace the name of ”Terrace of infinity.” The beautiful Villa Rufolo stands to the right of the dome. In Spring and Autumn, Ravello is a favorite destination for those who love the silence of its buildings and its medieval churches. Every year audiences gather to listen to the concerts held in the gardens or in the halls of Villa Rufolo, famous for having inspired the scenery of Wagner's Parsifal.

Positano - The busy central Piazza dei Mulini is connected to a narrow downhill path and some occasional flights of steps that lead to the seafront. At Piazza dei Mulini, you must leave the car as all streets leading to the waterfront are for pedestrians only. The only way to reach restaurants situated on the beach, that serve fresh daily fish, is to go on foot. These streets also lead to the cathedral, ceramic shops, fruit vendors, and apparel retail shops. Positano is alive at night as well, with exotic nightclubs such as Music on the Rocks and various bars and cafes that remain open until the sun comes up. There is a short walk uphill to return to the car, ascending the mountain, returning to the main coastal road that leads to Amalfi. Amalfi - This coastal town is situated on a seafront port and a long stretch of pebbled beach. In front of the port of Amalfi is the only bus station along the coast. Behind this square lies the main shopping street of Amalfi, that ends at the furthest and highest point of the town. Along the pedestrian street are various bars and cafes, not to mention the many shops selling limoncello, casual apparel, swimwear, gifts, basic groceries, and of course, ceramics. However, if one would like to see more than just shops, Amalfi has some interesting sights to explore such as: a spectacular cathedral along the coast, and a paper factory and its museum. There are also some highly recommended local restaurants, which your driver can suggest. Ravello - The road to Ravello is a slow uphill drive where you will pass several wineries and olive factories. Ravello is a rural village unspoiled by tourism, perched on top of a mountain cliff situated above Amalfi and Minori. It is famous for its breathtaking views and ancient monuments best exemplified by the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. In high season, these gardens are rich in sweet scents of blooming flowers and the perfume of lemons. There are also many classical concerts held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, located just off the main square of Ravello; tickets cost approximately 20 Euros each. Apart from the main cathedral and the history museum constructed in the basement of the cathedral, there are many other churches to visit near the town square. Along the narrow arches of Via Roma, there are a few small boutiques, and some traditional local restaurants with unique and exceptional cuisine.

The legendary Positano sits in a splendid panoramic position and is the most picturesque and photogenic town on this stretch of coast. Amalfi's typically Mediterranean architecture, made with characteristic white homes heaped one upon the other, makes it one of Italy's most famous resorts. Ravello is situated in a more elevated position than the other pearls of the Amalfi Coast about 300 meters above sea level. It is now possible to visit the paper museum itself. Ravello is located on the beautiful Amalfi coast, but don’t be fooled as it’s positioned at 315 meters above the sea level.
