Full description
Begin the day with a tour briefing before setting off for the world's largest sand island. After a short ferry trip over to the island, the adventure begins with a drive along the eastern beach, also known as the beach highway. Tackle the inland tracks as you make your way over to the famous Lake McKenzie where there's plenty of time to enjoy the stunning scenery and enjoy lunch together. Cool off with a swim in the clear blue waters, relax on the white sandy beach, or make the most of some fantastic photo opportunities. Then it's off to the private campsite for the evening where your permanent tent, complete with beds, awaits. Swap stories with your fellow travellers over dinner and drinks.
After enjoying a quick breakfast, set off for another full day of adventure on Fraser Island. Depending on tides, visit Indian Head and Champagne Pools or Lake Wabby. If you end up going to Indian Head, stand atop Fraser Island's highest point, affording beautiful sea views and the opportunity to spot wildlife such as sharks or whales (seasonal). Only a short distance away are the Champagne Pools, the perfect spot for another swim in salt water pools. Alternatively, visit Lake Wabby; a tropical paradise found only by walking over some wondrous sand dunes, where another swimming opportunity awaits.
Visit Eli Creek, where you can float along with the gentle current and take in the sights and smells of the rainforest surrounds, as well as visit the famous Maheno shipwreck for fantastic photo opportunities and a brief history of how the ship came to rest on Fraser Island's beach. Afterwards, wave goodbye to the island as you make your way back to Rainbow Beach via the ferry. Arrive back at Freedom Rainbow Beach between 3-4pm after a quick unpack and clean of the vehicles.
