Full description
The Andes in Ecuador are home to over 300 kilometers of volcanic mountains south of Quinto, a region aptly named the "Avenue of the Volcanoes" by explorer Alexander von Humboldt. On this 2-day adventure through the region, you will see Ecuador's collection of both placid and recently inactive volcanos, including both Chimborazo and Cotopaxi.

Your 2-day itinerary will be as follow:

Day 1: You will depart from Quito in the morning, admiring the beautiful Andean landscape via the Avenue of the Volcanoes. Your day spent en route to Riobamba will hold many opportunities to take photos of the amazing landscape. A brief stop will be made at the Cotopaxi National Park for you to stretch your legs. You will be staying in a typical hacienda for the region once you arrive in Riobamba. Meals are not included throughout the day.

Day 2: Day two will begin with breakfast before departing for the train station in Alausí. From there, you will enjoy a 2-hour train ride towards the famous Devil’s Nose mountain. With nearly perpendicular walls, this mountain proved a massive obstacle to building the Trans-Andrean railroad. You will ride along the 12.5-kilometer meticulously engineered section of the railway which features many twists and turns as well as steep ascents and descents. After your train adventure, you will return to Alausí before returning to Quito in the afternoon.
