During your time in Quito be sure you don’t miss the Equatorial Monument, located on the line dividing the northern and southern hemispheres. You’ll travel from central Quito to the site, and have the option of visiting the Intiñan or Ethnographic museum.
What to Expect
Your 3-hour tour begins in the northern part of Quito, and heads up to the Middle of the World City (admission is included in the tour price). This is where you will find the monument that stands on the line that divides the northern and the southern hemispheres.
The Equatorial Monument was built during the 17th century, when the precise dividing line between the hemispheres was defined by a French expeditionary team.
You’ll have the choice of an optional visit either to the Intiñan Solar Museum or the Ethnographic Museum (admission is not included in the tour price).
Tours depart from the Holiday Inn Hotel at 14:30 from Monday through Saturday, and at 09:00 on Sunday.
