This was 100% worth doing. I was nervous for the elevation and hike and active volcano. However, the hike was not for the completely inexperienced, but it was way more doable than expected. There was two paths for the way up,m. The hike took me about 40 min up and 20 min down. It was very cold and windy. They aren’t kidding when they say weather is unpredictable here. I would recommend being prepared for rain, wind, and cold temperatures. Do wear hiking boots and hiking clothing if you can. There is a souvenir shop stop on the way I was able to purchase extra pants for layering, hiking boots gloves, hats, and of course, souvenirs like stickers and patches too. Meals were available at the right times and offered many options. Our guide, Irene, recommended all the right snacks to help with elevation and energy for the excursion. Lunch was a sit down at a very cute restaurant with good and healthy foods. The restaurant has some special fun touches as well. Enjoy Cotopaxi!
Excellent tour. The hike was amazing and the guide was very helpful.
