Full description

There’s no better place to try paragliding than from Coronet peak, the highest of all the flying sites in Queenstown. This take-off gives you the opportunity to give flying a paraglider yourself a go (conditions apply). The friendly and highly qualified team is led by Angus Tapper, a 4-time New Zealand Paragliding Champion and runner-up in the 2010 National Hang Gliding championships. He has over 30 years of aviation experience. After a short drive up to the ski field, you’ll be teamed up with your highly experienced pilot. He’ll do a safety briefing with you followed by a short practice. Soon, you and your pilot will be flying away. Once up in the air, you’ll have amazing views of the whole Wakatipu area. There’s nothing better than seeing the spectacular Queenstown region from the air.

Try your hand at flying a glider yourself while under the safe supervision of your instructor (conditions apply). Once you’re done, a courtesy van will pick you up from the purpose-built landing site, which has a café that offers hot food and drinks.

The entire experience went very smoothly. We were picked up from queenstown after each person was weighed on a scale and assigned with pilots. The view at the starting point is also quite nice. The pilots were friendly and very encouraging. Jan was a great pilot, explained clearly each step and gave me a sense of security during the flight.

The day I booked was windy and the next day, but I am convinced that there are enough of these things because nature is the partner. I think that it is more safe to put a spare day in the schedule. I was not confident in English, so I wanted a Japanese instructor. After all, I was able to communicate finely, so it was good. Paragliding was an intoxicating activity. At the beginning, I got a little drunk with a moving car and flew afterwards, so I got even more drunk, but when I told it to a professional instructor, he responded flexibly. I think it was good to be a Japanese instructor, considering what happened. And it's a worthwhile activity to get a little drunk! That excitement, which only the person who did it knows, and the flight here are 10-15 minutes longer than others. Since this is also a natural partner, it can change a lot, but I flew about 10 minutes. I am very satisfied.

It was just amazing! My first time paragliding and I loved it! The team was very friendly and the location soo beautiful! You'll fly over the valleys of Coronet peak with a beautiful view on the Arrowtown valley and Lake Wakatipu in the back. Of course the flight is too short ;-) But my partner did his best to meet optimal wind conditions.
