What people are saying about Queenstown

Queenstown, New Zealand, in autumn is thrilling with leaves changing colour. Lake Whakatipu is often calm, but can be choppy in the light breezes. We changed our departure time from 3:15 to 1:15 p.m. and we were pleased with the earlier departure from the local jetty, as sunlight was fading after 3 p.m. The "Spirit of Queenstown" was moved from its overnight docking wharf to mid-wharf on the main, long wharf, a few minutes nearer to the CBD. Dozens of families were eagerly waiting in a long queue --- and most of them headed up to a higher deck with a wind-shield. As my wife and I had pre-purchased "wine and cheeses", we chose to go directly into the main covered lounge with its large picture windows and selected a window table and seats. There was adequate room for those who chose to sit in the main Lounge, with few sitting at the central tables. The catamaran was quite stable in the choppy lake water and the captain slowed down when changing direction across choppy waters.

This was an excellent value for money experience. The trip over on the TSS Earnslaw was comfortable and being able to see the engine room was a bonus. The farm park tour and afternoon were both excellent despite the rain with brollys provided and the amphitheater being under cover. The sheep herding display was short but very interesting with the dogs being well loved by their owner. Our guide Peter was knowledgeable, loved his animals, and good with the kids on the tour. A thoroughly nice guy and good farmer. The afternoon tea was also excellent - beautiful scones and cakes and great service. Highly recommended!

I was lucky to have jucy glass top bus with an awesome driver who did funny but knowledgeable commentary. He knew his job completely. On jucy cruise crew members were really awesome and careful about passengers. Showed us amazing views and waterfalls. Lunch and complementary tea coffee was delicious.

The highlight of our trip and an experience we will be talking about for a while. We were so excited to learn we would be landing on snow and were able to get some great family photos in the process. Make sure to bring a phone or camera!! Also shoes that won’t get wet from the snow.

I had always wanted to see Milford Sound, and with a limited amount of time this was a perfect trip, great views on the flight, excellent cruise.
