Full description
Your tour will begin as you visit the booking office and gift shop to collect your boarding pass. From there, you will make your way onto Hawes Pier to board the boat and embark on your sightseeing cruise. Once the boat has departed Hawes Pier, there will be a brief safety message played to all passengers before the audio commentary begins. The journey then starts with the boat heading under the Red Forth Rail Bridge before continuing past the historic Inchgarvie Island towards Inchcolm Island. You can listen as the skipper points out seals, puffins, and other wildlife that can be found throughout the cruise. Once around Inchcolm Island, you can watch carefully for sunbathing seals on the Haystack before the cruise continues back under the Red Rail Bridge towards the Forth Road Bridge and the recently opened Queensferry Crossing. Once under these majestic bridges, the boat will cruise back to Hawes Pier where you will be free to disembark.

We took our grandson's on the trip. It was a lovey day and we had a wonderful time. The trip went at a good pace and was informative of the history of the area including info about the wars. And we saw seals which was very exciting for the boys!! Worth taking a jacket with you.

The trip itself is fine. I must say it is far, far better to pay for the 3 hour trip so that you can spend time on the island. It really is well worth the visit. The booking process needs to be simpler. Having entered the dates and number of passengers, you then need to (1) download the app, then (2) create an account, then (3) open a confirmation email, then (4) log in, before you can see your booking. At every stage a red warning banner appears saying something like, "You must transfer the voucher", without ever making it clear what that actually means.

We had lived in Edinburgh for years but never thought of this. Luckily, we chose a perfect activity on the perfect day (possibly the loveliest, sunniest and hottest day in Scottish history)! Could fault any part of the trip. The customer service was fantastic and the pre-recorded and live commentary was thoroughly enjoyed with guest appearances from lovely seals chilling on buoys along the way. I could almost believe they were paid actors ;) Highly recommended!
