The 10 Best Things to See in Quebec
The creative, modern city of Quebec is well worth a visit, whether it’s for sightseeing, tours, or nightlife. The only walled city north of Mexico, Old Quebec is a UNESCO World Heritage site, thanks to its beautiful buildings, cobbled streets, and centuries of history.
1. Old Quebec
This cobbled, walled town is where the bulk of Quebec's rich history resides, including the Cathedral, chapels and churches. Take a horse-drawn carriage around for real tourism!
2. Citadelle of Quebec
Located at the top of Cap Diamant, the views from here are breathtaking. In summer and fall/autumn, the night tours are also particularly magical. Admission is $16 for adults.
3. Montmorency Falls
Catch a tram to the top of this large waterfall to appreciate its scale. Parking can be steep, so try nearby roads and streets for free parking before committing to the $12 charge per car.
4. Musée de la civilisation
To learn about the French-Canadian people and history of this area, this attraction is a must. Kids and adults will both love the earthquake experience and tornado simulation, too.
5. Château Frontenac
This grand and historic hotel may be out of some visitors' price range, but you can still download the self-guided tour app to learn about the history of the beautiful building.
6. Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec
No French-flavored city is complete without its own tribute to 'Our Lady,' and Quebec is no exception. A quick half hour is usually enough to get a sense of the history.
7. Plains of Abraham
This was the site of a key battle in the Seven Years War, a clash between the French and British Empires. A wonderful place for a picnic, factor this site into a day outdoors.
8. The Battlefields Park
This large park incorporates the Plains of Abraham and Des Braves Park and offers many walking trails, so bring your hiking boots. Look out for summer concerts, too.
9. Parliament Building
This impressive building was completed in 1886. The brilliant and informative tour is free, runs all day in English or French, and can be booked ahead in Spanish.
10. Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec
Enjoy artworks by the sons and daughters of this creative city, and throughout Canada. The restaurant, which offers a lovely view, is also not to be missed.

What people are saying about Quebec City
If you want to hear interesting stories and facts about old Quebec City and history, take this tour. This is my third visit: in the first two I took bus tours but now I decided to take a walking tour and I'm not disappointed. Thanks to Gangreen (I might spell it incorrectly) I got to know about the city much more than during my two previous visits. Well done!
My daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Jeremy was super! I highly recommend taking advantage of some history lessons taught by the ghosts of the past. The character (Jeremy) was animated and engaging. We loved his humour and interaction with the group. We took some 'fun facts' home with us. We will be back!
We had a great time. It was perfect timing that we had dinner first before going to see the falls because it's a long walk. The food is really good and we love that they have a heater because we were cold that day. We highly recommend it!
Our guide Francois we will not soon forget. So knowledgeable, entertaining and truly a gentleman. I haven't had a history lesson like that since high school! A lot more fun than school. Our tour was money very well spent!! Merci!!
Very relaxed cruise and fantastic scenery. Perfect way to take a look at the old city from St. Lawrence River. Highly recommend.
