Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

Begin the tour with a visit to the coconut house or “Casa del Coco” to learn how coconut oil is produced and to taste fresh organic products. There you will have the opportunity to try exotic Caribbean fruits, roasted coffee and cacao. The next 45 minutes are spent in a guided tour where you will interact in close proximity with beautiful and friendly squirrel monkeys. These charming and intelligent monkeys have been trained by a Canadian couple with more than 35 years of experience working with animals, including 12 years at the Toronto Zoo teaching monkeys to trust and enjoy the company of humans. The tour is based on 5 acres of a beautiful piece of land that monkeys have made their home. The monkeys are completely accustomed to human contact – they come down from the trees to sit on your shoulder and eat from your hands. They also love to pose for the cameras, especially for selfies!

Very very nice experience. The counter spoke French and on the way explained local products etc. etc. The only downside I would say is that we spend at all enough time with the monkeys. We spend more time seeing and tasting the coffee cocoa making and also buying their product than being with the monkeys. It only lasted about 45 minutes or even less of the 5 hours of planned activities. If still we spent more time explaining their wild life how they behave etc ok but here is what

Activity during COVID (December 2020). Masks were compulsory in the bus (a pity that some tourists have to be put in order because they do not want to respect) and during the activities but it did not bother. The coach picked us up from the hotel on time. The guide Dario was very friendly and explained a lot of interesting things about the country during the whole trip (1 hour). We started with a visit to the plantation, it was very interesting and beautiful. There was still a tasting at the end despite the Covid, but each on their own after disinfection. We tasted the coffee, chocolate, coconut oil and local alcohol. Then we went to see the monkeys, it was very animal friendly and we were able to enjoy it. Then the coach brought us back to the hotel around 1:30 p.m. It was perfect, environmentally friendly, I recommend without hesitation! Remember to eat something before you leave in the morning. Thank you !

We really liked that you could choose between morning and afternoon. We have never had such close contact with small monkeys before. Attention was also paid to the health of the monkeys, so that uncontrolled feeding was avoided. On the way there you saw something of the country because of the open trucks. We also liked that something was said about coffee, cocoa, vanilla and coconut. You could buy something, but you didn't have to. I've seen it differently with other providers. The guide tried to give all participants the information they wanted in several languages.
