Experience the Dominican Republic’s finest caving expedition on a 2-hour guided tour that first takes you up El Farallon cliff and through the jungle before exploring the underground network of chambers and tunnels of Iguabonita cave.
What to Expect
Your 2-hour Iguabonita cave adventure begins with a vigorous hike up El Farallon cliff.
When you reach the top of the cliff you’ll hike through pristine jungle as you learn about the flora and fauna of the Dominican Republic and many of the secrets that the jungle holds. You’ll hear about natural medicines, herbs, barks, and plants that are still used by natural healers.
After a 25-minute hike you’ll reach the mouth of the cave, entering by an eco-friendly staircase. A trained caver will guide you through the vast underground network of chambers and tunnels and tell you about the cave formations. You’ll exit through a different mouth of the cave with no need of rappelling as another eco-friendly staircase has been built for your comfort.
The return hike will be along the same trail and takes around 20 minutes. When you reach the base camp you’ll be offered ice cold water and soda.
This adventure is not for the faint of heart and all participants must be relatively fit as there is a 25-minute hike straight up the cliff through jungle vegetation. Some health restrictions apply.
