What to Expect
Explore the magical paradise of Catalina Island on a full-day tour from Punta Cana, and enjoy a variety of water activities and sightseeing trips.
First, you will visit Altos de Chavos and see a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village perched high above the Chavón River. Designed by the Dominican architect Jose Antonio Caro and created by Italian master designer and cinematographer Roberto Coppa, stone pathways, decorative ironwork, furniture and enchanting buildings revive almost forgotten crafts of metal work and stone carving by local craftsmen.
Under Coppa´s direction, each stone was hand cut, each wooden door frame was handcrafted, and each wrought-iron detail hand-forged. Construction of the village began in 1976 and the village was inaugurated in 1982 with a concert by Frank Sinatra in the 5,000 seat amphitheater.
Stroll along cobblestone streets and admire the architectural grandeur of days gone by. Marvel at the craftsmanship of yesteryear. Find quaint shops, boutiques, art galleries, fine restaurants, and an archeological museum atop the picturesque cliffs of Casa de Campo.
Then, board a catamaran to sail past million dollar homes and the yachts of Casa de Campo before arriving at Catalina Island. Relax on sunbeds and white sand beaches, ride the waves on a banana boat or mega wing, take a short fishing trip, or snorkel in the crystal clear waters. Enjoy 4 hours of leisure on the island.
See the Dominican Carnival festival, and feel the rhythm of the music and dance. Go to the beach for a buffet lunch of green salad, mixed vegetable salad, seasonal fruits, pasta, moro (rice with beans), yellow rice, BBQ pork chops, BBQ chicken, and coffee Then, take advantage of the open bar aboard the boat.
