A great morning out! It was cold & windy at times so make sure you take some warm layers. It was wonderful to see some very, very cute penguins just going about their daily businessđŸ„°đŸ§ we got to see some seals from the boat on the way too which was nice. The tour guides were brilliant and had a good sense of humour in English & Spanish. They are very protective & kind to all nature throughout the excursion which I certainly appreciated seeing!

Fun day out to see penguins! Also saw a whale and some dolphins on the way there. Liked that the boat had free coffee service as it was extremely early. Only negative was the waiting time to get on the bus that early. It took a long time and could be avoided if they were better organised.

Full description

After check-in at the meeting point, transfer to Laredo Bay port to board speedboats for a 45-minute trip to Magdalena Island. Once there, enjoy 1 hour with a guide to discover the habitat of the Magellanic penguins on Magdalena Island, the second largest Magellanic penguin colony in South America that receives more than 120,000 penguins every year. Next, if the weather conditions are good, continue your journey to Marta Island, which hosts a colony of more than 1000 Patagonian sea lions, as well as copious bird life. Keep an eye out for cormorants, skuas, austral seagulls, Antarctic pigeons, and the occasional elephant seal. If you're lucky, see southern dolphins, piebald dolphins, and sei whales during your trip. The tour includes with return to Laredo Bay port and transfer back to the original meeting point.

The tour was good, the guide Rodrigo was informative and very friendly and the walk on Madgalena island very nice, with all the penguins which were just so cute. 1 hour is a good time to see the island and the penguins (it was rather cold even though the sun was shining; I was happy about the hot beverage afterwards). I personally would have preferred to skip Isla Marta (and start the tour at 7 instead of 6.30) since you do not get close enough (I guess for reasons of animal protection..?) to see the sea lions well. Also, the tour is a bit expensive in my opinion. General remark, unrelated to the tour provider (captain did its best to ensure a calm ride): the catamaran ride can be quite rough because of the waves, so come prepared if you tend to get seasick!
