Full description

Explore one of the marvels of Puno with a tour of the Uros and Taquile Islands in Lake Titicaca, explore the floating islands in the lake, and learn more about the lives of the people who live on the islands in the highest lake in the world.

Begin the tour with pickup from your hotel in Puno or the Puno bus station, and make your way to the pier or main port.

The tour begins with a show of typical Puno dances inside the tourist boat, then travels to the floating islands of the Uros, currently considered the National Reserve of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.

Learn about the people of the Uros, who still maintain their own culture and tradition, as well as artisanal fishing, especially carachi and silverside. Spot some of the 75 islands that are inhabited at present.

Sail by boat for 2 hours and a half, to the natural island of Taquile, during the navigation you will be able to observe the chain of mountains. Find out more about the people of Taquile and their famous textiles.

Enjoy approximately 2 hours for the visit, a 1-hour delicious typical lunch in front of the lake, before returning to the bus station or your accommodation.

What an incredible memorable day. Everything was straightforward, well detailed and extremely well organised. Victor our wonderful guide met us from our transport and gave us a lovely welcome. We were impressed already. The boat for the trip was lovely with seating inside, later on we got to sit on the seating area on the roof of the boat for fantastic views. But to be fair the large windows inside the boat gave brilliant view too. Victor was a fantastic guide, his English and Spanish so clear and easy to understand. We were so impressed how much talking Victor had to do, with speaking in both languages for everyone. He made the whole day so interesting and kept us well informed as the days plans proceeded. Both islands were so different and both truly beautiful and so lovely to meet the local people from both islands and interact with them. The singing and dancing were superb and loved joining in. The detail of the crafts and the incredible lunch were fantastic.
