Stavanger: Guided Lysefjord Cruise to Pulpit Rock
The captain will meet you at the boathouse (Strandkaien 34) and provide you with the neccessary gear and give a small safety brief. We start off slowly by gliding out of Stavanger harbour while passing mighty cruiseships or other vessels. On the way out you will have a beautiful view of the city centre and to some of the iconic buildings like "Tollboden" and the Norwegian oil museum. After we pass the bridge you will see a gigantic street art painting before we then accelerate to a thrilling 25-35 knots and head to Lysefjorden. We are able to cruise as fast as the RIB-boats offered by other operators, but we usually go a little bit slower due to safety, less enviromental impact and improved comfort. Our boats are more sturdy and have a roof ("sun-top") for better protection from the elements without sacrificing the view. Our boats also have a lounge/seating area both in the front and in the back, with the possibility to walk around the whole boat, giving you excellent photo opportunities during the safari. On the way to Lysefjorden we will pass beautiful scenary, wild norwegian nature, idyllic islands, fish-farms, small villages and cosy cabins and houses. If we are lucky you might even spot a seal or two and other wildlife. The Lysefjord-bridge marks the entrance to Lysefjord and from here on you will learn all about the fjord's legends and tales. The scenary will change into massive rock formations and huge cliffs, which is an amazing experience just in itself. We will visit Vagabond's cave where some rather shady people hid from the sheriff in the old days. Off course we will also behold the world-renowned Pulpit rock (Preikestolen), as is stands 604 meters above the fjord. Learn how it was made and also why the fjord is shaped as it is. Last, but not least, you will also hear the fascinating story of how and why "Whiskey-falls" got it's nickname (it has something to to with a crazy German). Beware...the captain might put the bow of the boat directly into the waterfall! After visiting the cool waterfall we will head back again and the tour will end up in the same place as we started. We are pretty sure you will have long lasting memories and cool pictures with you after this unforgettable, front row seat tour to some of the best Norway has to offer!

What people are saying about Pulpit Rock
Overall rating
The experience on June 20 is a memory for life. Our guide became ill but was replaced by Stefan (from Explore Lysefjorden). He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He shared his experiences with us. Our group started out with eight people, but after the first plateau, there were only five of us left. Those of us who stayed were from Canada, Brazil, and Sweden (my husband and me). We couldn't have been a better group. We had great team spirit and interesting conversations while we were walking (climbing). :-)
The guides were so hospitable and friendly. They catered for differing fitness/competence levels. Everyone seemed to have a good time. A small group of 15 was a good size.
excellent views with exciting speed on the fjords, although we had a very heavy shower the floatation suit keeps you warm and dry. Would highly recommend
The ship sailed very close to the attractions, almost close enough to touch, which was particularly great.
Wonderful views. Beautiful waterfalls & interesting information.
