Full description
Spend a day exploring the small but charming UNESCO-listed city of Antigua Guatemala with a private guide just for your group.
After pickup around 9:30 AM at Puerto Quetzal Port, take a 2-hour journey to the city of Antigua Guatemala. Visit the colorful Central Park and see locals selling hand-made products like textiles, toys, and gastronomy. From there, admire the main buildings surrounding the plaza: the Captaincy of Guatemala and City Hall. Learn about the history of the water fountain placed in the middle of the park. Then, explore the remains of the Antigua Guatemala Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church originally built around 1541.
Later, visit the ruins of former Catholic covenants that impress with their fountains and thick walls. Take some time to wander the cobblestone streets, passing by beautiful Spanish Baroque-inspired architecture, and charming storefronts until you reach the famous Calle del Arco. If there is enough time, you will visit a jade factory, a chocolate factory, or the House of Rum. Then, the tour breaks for 1 hour of lunch (at your own expense). You will be taken back to Puerto Quetzal at approximately 2:00 PM, depending on your cruise timing details.
