Dogliani: Tasting of 7 Wines in the Heart of the Langhe

Dogliani: Tasting of 7 Wines in the Heart of the Langhe

We always start with the tasting of our 7 references, during which presentations are made and we all sit together to taste the wines accompanied by some typical local products. We tell the story of the wine you are drinking, how it was grown, when it was still grapes in the vineyard, and how it was processed in the cellar. Meanwhile, the dishes also arrive, within which you can find numerous typical local products, each to be paired with a different wine. We start with the Roero Arneis, the only white among the reds, a fresh and fruity wine: it is accompanied by tuna sauce. We then move on to red wines with Dogliani, which we usually pair with salami. First the Dogliani DOCG "Sambù", an easy to drink and light wine, which introduces the Dogliani DOCG "Superiore", more structured and complex. Nebbiolo and Barbera are paired with lard and bacon: the former is fresh and young, the latter is soft and fruity. Subsequently we will taste the Langhe "Excelso" blend of several wines to be tasted with meliga pasta (typical Piedmontese biscuit). And then the last but not least wine, the king of wines, the wine of kings: Barolo, to be tasted with cheese and cugnà (halfway between jam and sauce, it is made with fresh fruit and dried fruit ). After the tastings, we move to the cellar, where you can see how we work to create the wines you have just tasted: fermentation, the decanting and aging tanks, and finally the bottling and labeling phase.

Daniele did a fantastic job! He met us at the ship and drove be us to Portofino and Santa Margherita. He was very knowledgeable about sites along the way. He dropped us off at both towns as there was no place for him to park the van. The van was clean and comfortable. We left a jacket in the van and he brought it back and then took us back to the ship even though the tour had been over for a couple of hours. Highly recommend!

Our host Beatrice was amazing! Her knowledge of wine was phenomenal. Beatrice was unpretentious and spoke to us in a way we could understand her profession. She taught us about the grapes from the region and how her father, grandfather and great grandfather made them into wines The property is beautiful and so is the surrounding countryside. I would highly recommend this visit.

Very informative Very sweet Young Lady. Great wines and food, Beautiful setting. One friend kept asking about how long you can keep wine and she advised him. However it was when she said, " why, just drink the wine" That I thought how wise she was. Life is short enjoy it . Her attitude was infectious.

We had an awesome time at the English version of the tasting. Beatrice was a great host, had many interesting facts and made us feel so welcome. We had a lovely conversation and the wines were great. We would definitely recommend it to everyone, especially for the price.

Tour was great. Simone was so helpful and accommodating!! Plus brand new van
