From Praslin: Cousin, Curieuse & St Pierre Islands Day Tour

2. From Praslin: Cousin, Curieuse & St Pierre Islands Day Tour

Full-Day Cousin, Curieuse, and St Pierre Islands tour. Start with a transfer to Baie Ste Anne jetty for the 2-km crossing to the Special Nature Reserve of Cousin island. A cruiser moors off-shore and tourists are taken to the island on a Reserve boat to prevent accidental introduction of pests to the island. It is highly recommended that tourists come prepared to wrap their belongings in water-proof bags, and that they respect the safety regulations of donning life jackets and remaining seated until the craft is beached. A warden leads the tour of the island with its abundance of species and habitats, from the coast with its protective mangroves, to the wetlands which attract dragonflies, moorhens, caecilans & Seychelles terrapins; on to the rejuvenated forest on the hill plateau which provides ideal nesting sites for large populations of shearwaters and bridled terns amongst its endemic trees - mapou, Indian mulberry and bwa sousouri. Endemic birds found on Cousin Island are the Magpie Robin, Sunbird, Fody, Blue Pigeon and the Warbler. The tour continues with a 30-minute boat ride to Curieuse Island, where a splendid BBQ lunch is served on the beach. Curieuse island has a large population of giant tortoises, some can be seen next to the natural pond on the coast, whilst the majority range across the island freely and can sometimes be tracked by their vociferate calls of intimate congress. The tour ends with an hour's snorkeling off the tiny island of St. Pierre. For the un-initiated, our crew is on hand with lightweight snorkelling vests to ensure that no-one misses the chance to view the abundant marine life.

Praslin: Curieuse and St. Pierre Island Excursion

3. Praslin: Curieuse and St. Pierre Island Excursion

The Curieuse Marine National Park is a sanctuary to a big variety of flora and fauna. On the southern part of the island, you will discover a mangrove swamp that is traversed by a walkway for park visitors. The island is also known for its coco de merpalms, giant takamaka trees, and a large hawksbill turtle rookery. The area is also rich with several bird species, such as the rare Seychelles black parrot Coracopis nigra barklyi, a parrot found only there and on Praslin. St. Pierre Island is a raised reef island west of Providence Atoll and a part of the Farquhar Group, which belongs to the Outer Islands of the Seychelles. It has a distance of 736 kilmometers southwest of the capital, Victoria, on Mahé Island. St. Pierre is a tiny granite islet with a handful of coconut palm trees. It’s a picture-perfect miniature island in the middle of the ocean. St. Pierre is considered as one of Seychelles best snorkeling locations, providing the opportunity to see a wide variety of colorful fish and sea turtles. What people are saying about Praslin Island

Great trip! Many thanks to our skipper Sanny, who put a lot of effort into it. Saw turtles and so many colorful fish even a whale shark. We would have liked to have given a tip, but he left too quickly afterwards. Excellent value for money, including a good BBQ lunch and soft drinks and including island fees for Sister Island. Wonderful trip! Thank you, skipper Sanny, you did a really great job. Saw turtles and so many fish, even a whale shark. We would have liked to give you a tip, but you were gone too fast. Great value for money, price included good freshly prepared lunch, soft drinks and Island fees for Sisters Island.

Great tour with Sony. We were surprised when we booked that it said only max. 6 people (these days excursions just but as many people as possible on a boat). Which is why this excursion was a real refreshment! It was only us two, another couple and our guide / captain Sony. Was lots of fun and great day with boat ride, turtles and hike and BBQ at Curieuse, Snorkeling at two different spots (too many waves for St. Pierre but drove past it and snorkeled at two other good spots). Can highly recommend! Also cheaper then most other offers we saw.

Unfortunately, our day started off on a not-so-great note with some unwarranted rudeness from the driver who picked us up at our hotel, but once on the boat, it was a great experience. Guides were chill, helpful, and knowledgeable. Snorkeling was excellent. Great way to see many islands in one day. Highly recommend!

All around a very successful trip, organization, information, guide, catering, everything went very relaxed

Was perfect, nice day with a nice team on the boat
