What to Expect
Explore one of the Czech Republic’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites on a full-day tour of Český Krumlov. Situated on the banks of the Vltava River in South Bohemia, the town dates back to the Celts and Neolithic period.
Transfer from Prague by air-conditioned minivan. You will be picked up at 08:30 to make the most of the day. Travel through lovely Czech Republic countryside to arrive in the scenic town center of Český Krumlov, where you will be shown all the main sights.
Learn the history of the city, from its growth as a fortified town in the 13th century, to its place as an important stop on the trade routes of Bohemia. Go down to the banks of the Vltava river, and marvel at monuments such as Český Krumlov Castle.
Next, take a tour of the castle complex, which includes one of the world's most completely preserved Baroque theatres. Hear stories of Bohemian nobility, including the Vítkovci family (later known as the “Lords of Krumlov”) and the Rosenbergs, who took residence in the castle and became the most powerful family in Bohemia, shadowed only by the king.
Conclude with a walking tour of the rest of the town to see some of its unique urban developments. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant, where you can try typical Czech cuisine. Return to Prague at 19:00 for the end of the tour services.
