Full description
Get to grips with the Jewish history of Prague on this informative walking tour led by an expert guide. Walk through central Europe’s only existing Jewish town–the quarter that survived the Holocaust. See several important sites such as the Old Jewish Cemetery, Old-New synagogue, Maisel Synagogue, Spanish Synagogue, and Pinkas Synagogue. The tour begins with a stroll through the Old Jewish Cemetery. This was established in the first half of the 15th century, and its oldest tombstone dates back from 1439! Pay your respects at the grave of poet and scholar Avigdor Kara, and see the place-of-rest of the famous Liwa Ben Bazalel, also known as Rabbi Löw. Walk through Maiselova Street to reach the Old Town Square. The Old-New Synagogue was built in the early Gothic style around the middle of the 13th century. The main hall is the only existing Medieval type hall of its kind. This is an informative tour offering you a unique insight into the city’s history, with guide and entrance fees to the scheduled sites all-inclusive.

The tour was very well organized and very exciting. I was the only registered participant and the tour took place anyway. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The whole tour took longer than planned because we also visited the Old New Synagogue (you buy an additional ticket). I am very grateful to my guide for giving me her time to tour the Old New Synagogue. In general she didn't look at the clock and I found that very relaxed. I also recommend visiting the old mikvah by the Pinkas Synagogue. The ticket for the mikveh costs only 50 crowns. You will get another competent tour and enough time for photos. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in this topic.

a little disorganized

I wasted a lot of time waiting for the tour to start. There was no guide waiting for us. I even asked in Italian and was told they didn't have a guide in this language. I did the tour with a headset in Spanish. An agency employee, very kind and concerned about the situation, accompanied me.

This tour was very underwhelming. Grayline tour company is highly disorganised. On arrival (10:15, 15 minutes before our booked tour) the lady serving us told us that we had to come back on the dot of 10:30 as she was too busy with the previous tour. On arrival on the dot of 10:30 there was a large line checking in to our tour which we where forced to join the back of. After waiting 20 minutes in the line we got checked in and were told that there was no longer room on the transfer vehicle and we would have to walk the 15 minutes to the ticket desk in the pouring rain. While the tour was informative and the tour guide was quite knowledgeable she was not so friendly, she seemed to be upset with myself and my 4 friends the whole tour. Overall, while some of the tour was enjoyable the overall experience didn’t quite meet my expectations.
