Full description

Enjoy a guided walk in Babelsberg Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Get an insight into the turbulent history of this dreamlike parkland. Learn about the dramatic era in which Babelsberg Park was created and the role it played at the end of WWII.

After 1961 it was divided by the Berlin Wall and the history of the park is closely linked to escape attempts across the Iron Curtain. From the Babelsberg Palace, take in stunning views of the Bridge of Spies, a symbol of the Cold War. Today the bridge connects Potsdam, the former capital of the greatest GDR district with the former West Berlin. After an easy 2-kilometer walk, return to the starting point.

stimulating and very competently conveyed. Again any time

We were prepared for a cultural and historical tour. Unexpectedly, we experienced very vividly conveyed current and past history, especially from the end of World War II to the present. We were particularly touched because this period also reflected our own history (born in 1949/50). We would like to thank the young man for this journey through time in a stimulating and very competent manner.

It was the home of the Big Three (Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill) of the Potsdam Conference during World War II. After the war, it was the border between East and West Germany (the park was in East Germany), and it was also the East German cadre training base (similar to the University of Political Science

A great tour that dove into the history of the area in relation to the Cold War. Our guide was very knowledgeable, as he grew up in the area, and could give us personal insight. Would definitely recommend.
