What People Are Saying About Portuguese Synagogue

Walking through history with the help of Michael an excellent guide

A really interesting and informative walk and talk. Readings from Anne's diary brought the events of wartime Amsterdam alive. The hope, the helplessness and the ultimate horror. A good way to learn about the background of the diary at our own pace. A highlight of our mother and daughter weekend.

Excellent, informative and comprehensive tour.

We found this tour an excellent way to gain an insight into Amsterdam's history during World War 2. The guide was knowledgable and included a wealth of information about the area and its background at other times. The tour was delivered with historical detail along with elements of humour. We were able to see and understand aspects of the city and its memorials which we would otherwise have overlooked. Would recommend this tour.

It was very interesting and very informative.

I found the Tour most informative and very interesting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very kind to us. It was a most relaxing and fulfilling experience. I would highly recommend this walking tour to anybody i know who will be travelling to the city of Amsterdam in the near future.

Well organised with a knowledgeable Guide. Would recommend.

Excellent value for money. Our guide Tina was very informative and kept the tour very interesting.

Anne Frank House Visit & Jewish Amsterdam Walk Reviewed by Mavis, 03/17/2016

Wonderful day, Great City, Brilliant Tour Guide, Highly Recommended

Firstly we met at the Gassons Diamond factory which is interesting to see how they create the nice shiny diamonds we all know and love from what they collect from the mine. Our tour guide Andy was fantastic and knowledgeable with interesting stories to tell as we walked the beautiful streets of Amsterdam. Our second stop was at the Jewish Museum, again highly interesting but not somewhere you could spend more than an hour in. Andy then took us across the road to the Portuguese Synagogue and told us of the history of the Jews in the city during the second world war and about the Jewish religion whilst we wandered around the Synagogue (which was stunning). Lastly we took a bus ride to the Anne Frank House (past all the ques of people) straight to the front and here we were left to explore alone. This place is just simply breathtaking and is well worth waiting all day to visit, it really hits home to think how 8 people lived in such a small confined space for so long. A must visit!
