What to Expect
The meeting point for this 7-hour private group tour is in Rapallo, in front of the main pier where the ferries depart. You’ll take a public boat to Portofino, an ancient fishing village, that was a natural port of strategic importance during the Roman period.

Admire the village as the boat docks. You’ll see oaks and pines lining the rocky coast, colored houses, and beautiful gardens that are all typical Mediterranean elements that have inspired artists from around the world.

Once in town you can choose to take a walk up to the Church of Saint George, to the Brown Castle, and to the lighthouse or sit and enjoy a drink or a gelato in the famous piazzetta.

From Portofino you’ll continue by boat or public bus to Santa Margherita Ligure. Admire the colored houses that surround the Baroque Church of Saint Margaret and the narrow alleys lined with shops. Many sailing races begin from the harbor here.

You’ll find many possibilities for a tasty lunch. Pizza and focaccia, pasta with pesto and green beans, homemade pasta with zucchini and shrimp, and grilled local fish are all on offer!

In the afternoon you’ll continue by train to Chiavari, a small town built around a river and fortified by the powerful Republic of Genova in the Middle Ages. You’ll see many of the ancient porticos, marble columns, doors with slate sculptures, and well-maintained old shops that house pasticcerie, bars, bakeries, and pharmacies.

The tour ends at the Chiavari rail station.
