Full description

Enjoy the convenience of being picked up in an 8-seat minivan from your accommodation in Porto before exploring the stunning Douro Valley. Visit local wineries, savor wines and delicacies, learning about the wine making process, before cruising down the Douro River on a river cruise.

Begin your tour with a visit to the Croft Vineyards and learn about the entire winemaking process from your guide. End your visit with a port wine tasting accompanied by a careful selection of Portuguese cheeses. Then head towards the village of Pinhão, where you will embark on a 1-hour boat trip with delicacies onboard. Relax as you float down the calm waters of the Douro River and admire the landscape of the valley. Afterward, sit down for lunch in a typical Portuguese restaurant. Choose between meat, fish, and vegetarian menus. After lunch, visit the winery of a small table wine producer. Learn about the differences between premium wines, and the techniques used to produce them during a private guided tour. End your visit with a tasting of olive oils made by the same producer. Four of us took the tour on October 15, 2021 through the Douro Valley. We met two other couples who were in our van on the same tour and we had a tremendous day together. Our guide was Patricia and she was absolutely amazing. Her English is impeccable and she is very informative and entertaining. It was a perfect mix of wineries, the lunch was excellent, the boat cruise was lovely and the views were fantastic. Two of us have spent lots of time both in Portugal and also in the Douro Valley. We (and our guests) thought this was a perfect day to get a flavour of this part of Portugal.

The company contacted me the day before, picked me up from the hotel. Clear explanation of the day's program, and all happened as expected. Nice group of travellers (7). A good route and excellent speakers at each venue. The guide Guillermo was easy to follow, but knew when to stop talking, and he was interested in the passengers. I had a lovely day, as a solo traveller.

The tour delivered what it promised. We stopped at a winery first for a tour of the fields and then a port wine tasting. This was followed by a nice boat trip over the Duoro. Then there was lunch with wine accompaniment (red and white) at another winery in the garden. Finally we went to a third winery to try olive oil, red wine, rosé and honey. Crazy program! Our guide Hugo was great and we felt very comfortable in the small group of 8. Hugo told us a lot about the Duoro Valley and answered all of our questions. All in all, it was a great day and I would recommend the tour to everyone - especially wine lovers.
