Full description

Explore one of the most unknown treasures in Portugal and discover the nature of Gerês-National Park during a small group tour. The itinerary can be altered to make the best of the weather conditions in winter and summer. Leave your accommodation in Porto in the morning and travel to the Gerês National Park in an air-conditioned Land Rover. After around 90 minutes, arrive to the heart of Gerês. Imagine fantastic green lagoons where you can swim and relax, hear the sound of the waterfalls and see amazing rainbows. Visit an old village, where you will meet the locals and enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch with local green wine (included). Explore remote areas of the park and enjoy the breathtaking valley. During your exploration, if you're lucky, you might even see the wild horses (Garranos). End your visit to Gerês at one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region.  After a full day enjoying the best spots of Gerês National Park, relax on the trip back to your Porto accommodation, arriving in the early evening.

We really enjoyed the day with our guide Renate. The routes were adapted to the wishes of the group and even lunch was no problem for us as vegetarians. We learned a lot about the area, the park and nature on our tour. It also felt like Oporto Adventure was a part of the community as we passed through the villages. This is probably because the tour provider is committed to the villages and the national park. Overall, the tour is really highly recommended.

it was really good experience, to explore the national park in winter. we were lucky with the weather and one of the best guides (Renate). Renate was very knowledgeable as well as very enthusiastic in sharing the information. I'd really recommend the tour to everyone who wants to see the natural beauty of Portugal

This tour was full of pulse-pounding moments for me: the anxiety of being driven along a narrow path along a steep mountain, the shock of jumping into a frigid lagoon beneath a waterfall, the hike back up the trail. Less "exciting" but still totally worth it were exploring the small town of Fafião, having a delicious lunch, and getting to know the other passengers on our tour. Miguel and Katarina were fantastic guides. Even though the afternoon was rainy, it was still a great experience overall, and one I'd recommend.
