Full description
Explore one of the most unknown treasures in Portugal and discover the nature of Gerês-National Park during a small group tour. The itinerary can be altered to make the best of the weather conditions in winter and summer. Leave your accommodation in Porto in the morning and travel to the Gerês National Park in an air-conditioned Land Rover. After around 1 hour we arrive to the heart of Gerês. Imagine fantastic green lagoons where you can swim and relax, hear the sound of the waterfalls and see amazing rainbows. Visit an old village, where you will meet the locals and enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch with local green wine (included). Explore remote areas of the park and enjoy the breathtaking valley. During your exploration, if you're lucky, you might even see the wild horses (Garranos). End your visit to Gerês at one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region.  After a full day enjoying the best spots of Gerês National Park, relax on the trip back to your Porto accommodation, arriving in the early evening.

This is the highlight of our trip to Portugal! Best guide ever, or as he would say, very knowledgeable of the park and the small community living within. You get your money's worth and more with the Landover trip, the copious lunch and all the nice sightseeing! And the fact that the company gives back every year to the community and is very diligent of it's impact on the park is just amazing.

We had such a great time on this tour! Our guide Luis and Maggie were so hospitable. Luis was very knowledgeable about the village, the people and the park. Caterina bad great customer service since we had to change our day. Our group really enjoyed the scenery and being able to learn so much about the sustainable project from the company. The ride can be a bit bumpy so be prepared for that. There was a lot of hiking, and because we went during rainy season it made the path slippery. Even thought we went during rainy season, it made the views even better. Just make sure to be prepared for nature. Overall, we really enjoyed this activity and highly recommend to everyone. And make sure you ask for Luis!

We had the best time led by our wonderful guide, Renate! She was very familiar with the area around the park and shared her insight about the history, traditions, wildlife, and ecology of the area. We had a great, small group of people who made the most of our hike. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you’re in the vicinity - it will be the highlight of your trip!! *One small note is that although the hiking portions weren’t long or strenuous, they included crossing/hopping over and across some uneven boulders. For that reason, I’d firmly qualify this as a ‘moderate’ hike. I was hesitant at parts, but Renata was patient, helpful and always lent me a hand when I needed some extra support/confidence before making a crossing.
