In April I went on the day trip to Fatima and Coimbra, I found the tour very well organised taking me to 2 very fascinating places and the guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend taking the lunch option which was a delicious buffet with range of food options complemented by local wine at a restaurant in Fatima. I felt I had enough time in the Sanctuary of Fatima before lunch but I am not religous, those who Fatima matters more to, I might advise not taking the lunch option so they can spend more time in the Sanctuary. The real highlight for me was walking down with a knowledgeable guide through the picturesque, historic University of Coimbra, recommend.

Full description
Sanctuary of Fátima: This is a major pilgrimage site and one of the most important Catholic shrines in the world. It commemorates the Marian apparitions reported by three shepherd children.
Chapel of the Apparitions: This chapel marks the exact spot where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to the children. It is the spiritual heart of the Sanctuary and a focal point for pilgrims.
University of Coimbra: Founded in 1290, it is one of the oldest universities in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The university is renowned for its historical buildings, including the Joanina Library, a Baroque masterpiece.
Old Cathedral of Coimbra (Sé Velha): This Romanesque cathedral, built in the 12th century, is one of the best-preserved buildings of its kind in Portugal. Its fortress-like appearance and intricate carvings are notable features.
