The 2 hour boat trip was excellent. There was enough shade to escape the sun and the audio guide on the outbound leg was informative, explaining about the area and different vineyards.

This was a very enjoyable way to see one of the loveliest stretches of the Douro river, between Pinhão and Tua. The landing stage was very conveniently located right outside our hotel; the rabelo boat was just the right size for the number of passengers (circa 20 on our boat) with space for people to move around and take photos; and the crew were very helpful. Commentary was provided in your chosen language via an app but we were happy just to sit and look at the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this tour.

Full description

Navigate on a unique river, in the heart of the oldest wine demarcated region in the world and also a UNESCO world heritage site.

You start from Pinhão, pass under the Eiffel iron bridge going up stream until the Tua area where you turn around and return to Pinhão.

Along the way you’ll see hills of terraced vineyards until the river, with no national roads or traffic in sight.

Although you do the same stretch up and down, it could very well be a different one, because seeing it in one direction and then on the other creates two completely different points of view and sights.

The traditional rabelo boats have open and closed areas, so navigation can be comfortably made in all kinds of weather, all year long.

The beauty of the Douro River and the comfort of the boat made this a very enjoyable outing. Two hours was a great length… And a glass of port for 3 1/2 euro was a perfect addition!
