What people are saying about Port Douglas
Semi submersible was good to see many thing that would be hard to see just snorkeling (eg stingray, turtles, large shelves of coral). Food was just plain not appetizing. But you get what you pay for. If you snorkel in the beginner area near the ship, the coral looks bleached and the formations and fish are very deep so it’s harder to appreciate their bright colors. If you can venture out a few meters past the beginner area, the reef is shallower and there are more schools of fish and sea life. Staff were mostly professional and helpful except for one, Maki. I hard difficulty with my swim gear and asked Maki if she had any tips and she snapped at me saying “go find someone else to ask.” Then she turned around and walked away. I don’t expect that type of customer service is tolerated by Quicksilver so I would hope that they have discussions addressing her issues.
from start to finish it was amazing. Best guide, gavin. i am sure we saw everything there was to see except the cassowary. Went for a cruise on the Daintree river, saw a crocodile sunning itself. For lunch we had a great BBQ, cooked by Matt(guide in the other 4WD) then off to the the rain forest which was amazing. stopped for a dip in ellis creek and then had billy tea and damper.and also fruit tasting, native and tropical. on the way back to Cairns stopped for an icecream, not your ordinary icecream. these were made from native and tropical fruits and were absolutely delicious. ll in all this was a fabulous day and well worth every cent. i highly recommend it to anybody wanting to see the best of the daintree and also Cape Tribulation and a walk along the beach..
Great trip, despite the rainy season in Cairns at this time of the year. It rained the whole day, but Jay Jay made our trip a fun and exciting one. He cared about our safety most of all, considering there was flooding in certain areas. We could not access Cape Trib beach, but this is simply because of the weather. We had a lot of fun on the trip and learned a lot about the rainforest, survival techniques and about flora and fauna. Would highly recommend this tour!
Transfer to the cable car was late meaning less time in Kuranda which we weren't pleased about. The views and able car journey, as well as the station stop offs were excellent. The scenic railway back down towards cairns was interesting and beautiful at times. Also quite long and boring at times. Even though I fell asleep on the train, still glad we did it. Was 1.5 hours on the scenic train.
I loved this tour as it really demonstrates the Aboriginal Culture. I learned so much of just how we can live off the land. Nature that we just walk past all can provide hidden remedies that now I have some knowledge of and can share with others. Keeping in mind for survival and connecting with the earth!
