Port Arthur Historical Site: Full-Day Tour with Admission
- Pickup available
- Duration: 8 hours
Overall a good day, though longer than expected. The Get Your Guide sent us to the wrong pick up point but fortunately Clinton, driver/guide, had my mobile and called. The tour includes a walk along the cliff tops as well as some other stops on the way back, so expect to be back in Hobart around 6pm. Clinton was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with Tassie stories! The Port Arthur site is beautifully kept...our disappointment was that the short guided tour was not longer and did not include a tour of the buildings. (You are left to wander.) The Barracks in Sydney has a wonderful system whereby the audio (headset) is automatically triggered as you enter the rooms...providing a great combination of historical data and personal stories.
The choice of stops and attractions seemed an excellent balance, with enough time at Port Arthur and no sense of rushing things. We liked the clifftop walk, and managed it well despite our age (82), because it was relatively level. The one piece of information we would have liked to have in advance as oldies was the availability of the free go-cart service to get us around when tired. It helped to have only 4 of us in the mini-bus.
Great trip with a very knowledgeable guide David, he kept us amused with his stories as well as informed about the places we visited. The only thing I would say is that more time is needed in Port Arthur to see everything rather than rushing around to see all
Our guide Mark was extremely knowledgeable and made it a really fun day. Port Arthur was fantastic and so interesting. Our guide then sent us an itinerary of things to see/places to visit for the rest of our trip. Thanks Mark - 10/10 for customer service
It’s a good day ran by these guys. Informative guide who made tactful stops to break up try solid driving whilst allowing enough time for port Arthur itself . Reasonably priced given the duration and content received throughout the day .
