Full description

Relax and disconnect in a beautiful setting on a morning canyoning adventure in Salto do Cabrito. Explore the natural side of São Miguel Island hiking and canyoning through lush forests and cool streams.  Meet your guide in central Ponta Delgada or choose to be picked up directly from your accommodation. Travel by air-conditioned van for 20 minutes to Salto do Cabrito.

Start with a 30-minute hike to the stream where your guide will give a security briefing and distribute all the equipment needed for the activity. Once suited and ready to go, spend a few hours exploring the pools and waterfalls.

Wade down the river and reach several waterfalls where you'll abseil or zip-line down a deep canyon surrounded by the amazing nature of this volcanic area. The highest rappel can reach up to 16 meters and, unlike other canyons, there won’t be any required jumps.

To end the adventure, opt for a 4-meter jump at the last waterfall. A zipline is also available for those who'd prefer flying to jumping.

Canyoning was very fun! You need to be relatively active to hike to the top of the canyon as it was an intermediate level hike. The experience was amazing! We had a great time! Only recommendation would be to AVOID booking with Get Your Guide. The communication was very poor. We were given the wrong pickup information and almost missed our tour. Luckily, some locals were able to direct us to “standard” pick up locations. So after running around for a half hour we were able to find our guides. I’ve been 2 tours with get your guide and both times they provided incorrect information (the guide was provided one pickup time and location and we were provided a different one). You can book this tour on the island directly through the company and for cheaper! I would avoid get your guide!! Very poor experience with them for all my tours.

I can’t recommend this experience enough. The trip was smooth start to finish. Our guides we friendly, professional, welcoming, informative and most importantly a lot of fun! We had a great relationship with our guides which made the experience even more enjoyable. It was clear they are passionate about their job and delivering the best possible experience to clients. We felt safe at all times. It is not hugely challenging which makes this a great entry level for anyone who has not done canyoning before but want to be deep in nature and the waterfalls. This trip will certainly get you into the heart of the river and give you amazing views. Would book again! Thank you for an amazing trip

I am a little scared of heights and the guides were so helpful and caring that i had no problem completing the whole tour. I think the girl guide was Americas and there were 2 guys. One guide had a great sense of humor. The scenery was so beautiful and I would highly recommend it!
