Take a guided tour of ancient Pompeii, partially buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius more than 2,000 years ago. Explore this city that was frozen in time, and learn about life during the Roman era. See temples, a market, houses, a brothel, and more.
What to Expect
Visit the ancient site of Pompeii, located near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania. On this 2-hour tour your guide will show you the highlights of the city.
You’ll stop along the way to learn how people lived in this community 2,000 years ago, before it was smothered by volcanic ash from an eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius.
See the porta marina, or main entrance to Pompeii, temples, the tribunal, the central square, the fish market, the granary, a brothel, and some of the residents’ homes.
The large number of well-preserved frescoes provide an insight into everyday life and have been an important source for art historians to study the ancient Roman world and innovations in style introduced in Pompeii.
