Pretty straightforward system to swap the online ticket for the actual one at the park entrance. Just wish I hadn't bothered to buy one online because there was only a very small line and I could have saved three euros. Would not bother to buy a ticket online in February but I would absolutely do it during the peak season. Pompeii itself is incredible and a must-visit place.

When purchasing online, I understood that I was buying a ticket for entry, in reality you buy a voucher that must be exchanged at the ticket office, luckily the turnout was modest and therefore no queues. Included with the ticket is a paper map of the entire site and an indication of which house of the day is open. Every day they open houses under construction. Cannot be visited in the classic tour. Walking on the bumpy roads full of ups and downs n recessive VERY comfortable shoes. Bringing food and drink from outside could be advisable.

You can never go wrong in Pompeii's archaeological area. Huge recommendation if you are around Naples to go there. Our ticket got us a shuttle bus ride to the entrance and then we could enter by showing our vouchers at the ticket counter. Please note that this is just an entrance ticket, so it is recommended that, in addition to this ticket, you either get a guided tour or an audio guide.
