Full description

Transport yourself back to Roman times on a guided tour of Pompeii led by an archeologist. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site for 2 hours with the help of your expert guide, who will take you around the city preserved by volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 AD. Choose the experience you would like to have, with the choice of either a shared small-group tour or a private tour for your and your group alone. Skip the line when you enter the city at Porta Marina Superiore, one of the ancient city’s 7 gates. Walk the main streets and wander around the Forum, the old heart of the city and the center of public life. From here you can see Mount Vesuvius overlooking the city. Discover highlights such as the basilica (business and legal center), thermal baths, temples, bakery and great Theater of Pompeii. Listen to interesting anecdotes from your archeological guide, who will tell you about people who lived in Pompeii.

Peek at plaster casts of those who were in the city at the time of the eruption. See well-maintained artworks, mosaics, and frescoes and travel back nearly 2000 years. Highlights include the House of the Vetti and the Lupanar Brothel.

Find out how this famous brothel got its name and see its preserved stone beds and frescoes. Get great tips from your guide at the end of the tour about how to spend the rest of your day, or even choose to stay inside the archeological site longer to explore on your own.

Get directions to the Sanctuary Dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, the local cathedral that is located close to the excavation site. You can also get directed to the Amphitheater and Orto dei Fuggiaschi.

Theresa was so knowledgeable and entertaining. I have never been one for tours but she made me a believer in the advantage. I learned the value and story of the ruins instead of taking nice pictures. Theresa made us feel as if we were there. An experience of a lifetime - Done!

We had the best time on this tour! It lasted 2 hours which was the perfect time. Our tour guide, Alessandra, was so knowledgeable and answered every question. I would absolutely book this tour again when going to Pompei, we learned much more about the historical city than if we would have done so alone.

Our small-group tour with an archaeologist (Julia) was incredible! What a wonderful way to experience the ruins. Julia was extremely knowledgeable, and conveyed information both efficiently and in an engaging way. We would have stayed on her tour all day! It was worth the cost.
