  • Podgorica: Ostrog Monastery and Niagara Waterfall Tour

    1. Podgorica: Ostrog Monastery and Niagara Waterfall Tour

You will begin your tour by visiting the most famous waterfalls near the capital, Niagara Waterfalls. On the way to the falls, you will be able to see the Cijevna River Canyon, which was formerly the border between Montenegro and the Ottoman Empire until 1912. The waterfall was named after the Niagara waterfalls in Canada. Being much smaller, the waterfall is a great attraction for "Podgorica", and a place to rest on hot summer days.  Sometimes during the summer, the waterfalls dry up, so you get the opportunity to visit Virpazar or the lookouts above the river Crnojević, both part of the Skadar Lake National Park. These options are always available at the client's request. Kayaking in Virpazar can also be organized for an extra fee. After visiting the waterfall, the road will lead you up to the Ostrog Monastery. The beauty of this monastery, made by St.Vasilije, was written by Napoleo...

From the town, there is a possibility to rent a 1-hour boat ride in the National Park Skadar Lake, on the river Crnojevica. After visiting a small historic town and getting to know the history of the country, go further towards one of the villages. All villages around the lake have a long tradition of winemaking. Visit a household offering some of the best wines in the region. Spend some time tasting different wines and spirits, and enjoy homemade snacks. Along the way down via Pavlova Strana, make a few photo stops over river Crnojevica and part of the Skadar lake.

My mom & I had an absolute wonderful tour with Dimitri. He was very passionate and knew the exact right places to go. The combination of nature and winetasting was just perfect. The vineyard had an authentic feel to it. After the tour we asked Dimitri to bring us to Albania which was fine to him. All together this tour deserves a 10/10

What people are saying about Podgorica

- [ ] I had a wonderful experience touring with Dimitrije from Travelers Montenegro tours agency! We started the day with a walk through Rijeka Crnojevica, where I got to see the beautiful old bridge and historical town. From there, we took a boat ride through Skadar Lake (which is one of the best national parks in Montenegro). After this, he showed me beautiful panoramic views of the area, while explaining the history. The last stop on the tour was the Mrkah Winery. Visiting this family owned winery was phenomenal! The wine and homemade snacks were delicious and arguably the best wine I’ve tasted in Montenegro. The hosts were very hospitable and taught me about the history of the winery, their family, and about each of their wines and liquors. This truly was the Montenegro experience and I’m so thankful for Dimitrije and his agency! He also arranged pickup and drop off from my hotel, which made my life much easier! If you’re in Montenegro, I recommend booking one of his tours!
