Plettenberg Bay: Canyoning Trip

1. Plettenberg Bay: Canyoning Trip

Check in at the base camp to pick up your wetsuits, harnesses, life jackets and helmets. Once the group is ready, leave base camp for a short drive to the start of your canyon adventure. First, start your ropes course with a gentle 25-meter abseil into the canyon. Then, kick off with your first jump into the river followed by a short swim. Next, if you choose, try your hand at some cliff jumping. For this part of the activity, the highest jump is around of about 7 meters, and lowest 1 meter above the water level, so there are many options if your nerves are getting the better of you. Continue swimming and hiking down the river to The Rush, a waterfall abseil, and seasonally a controlled zip-line over the waterfall. Carry on swimming and hiking down the river until your next adventure, a 55-meter zip-line over a waterfall and into the river below. On completion of the trip, you will be collected from the pick-up point and transported back to the base camp for a nice hot shower, and to collect your pictures of the canyon trip.

Robberg Nature Reserve Hiking Trails

2. Robberg Nature Reserve Hiking Trails

Enjoy a day immersed in beautiful nature with a hiking trail trip along the Robberg, one of the most popular and well known trails in the area. Travel this circular route along the Robberg Peninsula with a comfort level that is appropriate to your fitness level - easy or moderate.  With your professional guide who is an expert on the local area, you will set-off on your journey along the Peninsula, taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. Be amused by the sight of bathing and resting Cape Fur Seals as they lay on the rocks. This is a fantastic site to witness even more animals, such as the Grey Buck, Duiker and Bushbuck. On some occasions, even Cape Clawless Otters and mongooses can be seen. Robberg is also an ideal vantage point to spot marine life such as Killer Whales, dolphins, whales and Orcas. There are also numerous bird species like Cape Robins, Cape White-Eyes, Red-Winged Starlings, and Orange-Breasted Sunbirds to name but a few.  Stop for a moment and admire the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountains. This is the ideal location to stop for a bite to eat and watch the large numbers of Swift Terns and Kelp Gulls. Your guide will provide you with knowledge on the natural fauna and flora whilst on route to explore a cave.

What people are saying about Plettenberg Bay

The staff were all so friendly and called us several times before our trip to make sure we had not forgotten about our booking and that we made it on time for canyoning. They provided DRY wetsuits for us to wear and also gave us the option to rent shoes so we didn't get ours wet and muddy. I would definitely do this again and recommend the longer canyoning trip to anybody looking to do this.

My boyfriend and I had the most amazing experience doing the canyon tour yesterday. Not only were the guides super friendly and encouraging, but the entire adventure was more than we both expected. Beautiful rocks and forest surrounding us, extremely safe activities and the perfect amount of adrenaline. What an amazing morning, we will definitely be back for more in the future.

Something completely different! Most folk won’t get to see those beautiful places. So if you enjoy the outdoors, this is for you. There is a bit of everything and a great bonding experience with the family. Your guides are excellent, providing a safe and humorous experience. Tebz and Puna, you chaps rock! Highly recommended.

This is a must do activity whilst you’re in plett! Not only was the canyon beautiful but Darren and Steph were amazing guides and such good fun, they pushed us out of our comfort zone. We had a great day and couldn’t recommend it enough!

It was a super unique experience. The two guides did a great job and safety was always the top priority. For us the first but not the last time!
