Plemmirio Nature Preserve

Meet your skipper by the water in Syracuse and set off on a sailing adventure that includes a visit around island of Ortigia and a swim stop near the Pillirina Grotto. Enjoy cool drinks and spritzes as you make your way to sea caves that can only been access from the water. Take in the lush flora and facinating fauna that live alongside the karst sea caves. Snap photos of Grotto dei Cappuccini, Grotto del Corallo and finally Grotto Grande (also known as the cave of stalactites). Arrive at the Pillirina Grotto which is composed of limestone and clay rock where you can jump into the water or bring along your snorkeling gear and take a peak beneath the waves. Stop on the island of Ortigia where the ancient architecture transports you back in time at a place where mythological gods were said to have been born. Return to your meeting point at the end of the tour with unforgettable memories of the coast.

The next excursion will allow you to spend a half day in total relax admiring the entire sea itinerary of our wonderful city. First we will visit the north side of Siracusa wich is known by the presence of the sea caves and by the peculiar rocks that remind different animals shape and then we move to the natural reserve of Plemmirio with its renowned gulf of Pillirina. Afterwards we'll sail around Ortigia island admiring its historic part wich includes the ex borboun prison, the Viliena fort, the spanish walls, the Maniace castle, the Levante waterfront, the Alfeo waterfront , the Aretusa spring and the immense Big Harbour of Siracusa. During the tour you will have cold soft drinks and seasonal fruit. Moreover our staff will provide to delight you with a big typical starter and a lunch or a dinner cooked up directly on board. This experience includes also more stops for swimming during the exploration of those places where we sail and a guide.

Make your way to the port in Siracusa. Meet your captain, and discuss with them your itinerary for the day. Find a place to sit on the boat, whether in the sun or the shade, and get comfortable. Make swimming stops along the way, and use the opportunity to go snorkeling. Admire views of the island of Ortigia. See the Maniace Castle, the Arethusa Fountain, and the city from the sea. Ask your guide questions about the local area. Have fun discovering the hidden shapes in the rocks along the Syracuse coast. Enter caves and observe their color variations. In the marine protected area of Plemmirio, experience an open and unspoiled sea, full of picturesque coves, like Pillirina. Once back on the boat, sip on a glass of prosecco.

Enjoy drinks on board and take a dip in the sea. Depart from the port of Syracuse and head towards the island of Ortigia. Admire the historic part of the city, including the former Bourbon prison, the Vigliena fort, the Spanish walls, the Maniace Castle, the Levante seafront, the Alpheus seafront, the Aretusa fountain, and the immense Porto Grande of Syracuse. Continue to the Plemmirio Nature Reserve. Stop at various points to take a dip in the sea.

Together with our skipper, you'll visit the beautiful island adjacent to Syracuse, but you'll also get to admire the caves of the Syracuse coastline and the splendid Plemmirio Nature Reserve. Leaving the harbor behind you, you will be able to admire the Island in its entirety, having the chance to see right up close the majesty and beauty of the Maniace Castle. You will proceed to the North area of Syracuse to visit the sea caves that possess an incerdible biodiversity. Once offshore, you will enjoy a nice refreshing swim but most of all you will enjoy a delicious lunch: you will taste appetizers composed of local specialties and a first course, all cooked on board and accompanied by drinks, Wine and Prosecco. We will depart in the direction of Plemmirio, where you will pause to dive in the crystal clear waters and enjoy swimming surrounded by fantastic schools of colorful fish. After making sure you have relaxed properly, we will return to the port of Ortigia.

You will be able to visit the city of Syracuse and the coasts by bike enjoying the beauty of the landscape, the sounds of nature, the freedom to stop anywhere without having to worry about parking. E-bikes also allow you to travel longer distances than one traditional bike. Thanks to the assisted pedaling you will be able to travel more kilometers, tiring you much less, but also reaching points of interest made inaccessible by difficult and heavy climbs. The motor that comes into action when pedaling will allow you to reduce physical effort, making it more homogeneous throughout the journey. The autonomy of the bikes it's 35km on one charge (more than enough to explore the coast). If you want to exceed this range you can recharge your bike in one of our charging points located in the most beautiful nature reserves in the area.

After an initial briefing on land, you will board the dinghy armed with mask and snorkel to begin your adventure to the bottom of the sea! You will be able to admire starfish, sea urchins and numerous fish, or inside the Plemmirio Marine Protected Area where you can see archaeological finds. The snorkeling activity lasts 1 hour, the remaining time will be spent preparing for the activity and arriving on the dinghy at the snorkeling spot.

We will then circumnavigate the island of Ortigia admiring the historical part which includes the former Bourbon prison, the Vigliena fort, the Spanish walls, the Maniace Castle, the Levante seafront, the Alfeo seafront, the Aretusa spring and the immense Porto Grande of Syracuse. During the tour you will have cold drinks, water, prosecco, white wine, red wine, fruit. Furthermore, you will be delighted with a lunch which will include mixed appetizers and a first course or a second course cooked directly on board which can be homemade or fish-based as chosen by the staff.
