Full description
Travel and food go together perfectly, so why not have a delicious trip while visiting Playa del Carmen? Take your taste buds for a ride on this 2-hour all-inclusive food tour of Mexican cuisine. The cuisine is known for its varied flavors, vibrant colors, and variety of spices and ingredients. It is a blend of indigenous (Mayan/ Aztec) and European elements (mainly Spanish) and in the busy streets of Playa you will be sure to find it all! On our food tour you will indulge on authentic Mexican food and regional dishes of the Yucatan. Your local foodie expert will guide you to small, out-of-the-way eateries and locales, away from the tourist mainstays and the tourist path of 5th Avenue. Leave everything in the hands of your passionate, highly knowledgeable guide, including transportation, menu selection, and even paying the bills. All you have to do is savor the food and take a photo or two to remember your culinary journey. The general itinerary includes stops at local food stalls/ stands and restaurants. Begin your tour with the regional cuisine of the Yucatan by trying one of the best tacos you will ever have. Next, discover where “real BBQ” comes from while refreshing with Mexican cola. In addition to the local food stalls and restaurants you will visit, you will also get a chance to see the local Mexican open-air market. Learn about some of the ingredients you eat and how they are used. Stop at a Pozoleria and try a traditional Mexican stew. And you simply cannot end your tour without dessert, so take your chance to cool off and try Mexican ice cream. You will be guided along the streets of Playa del Carmen that serve some of the best local food. Some walking is involved so bring comfortable shoes. Also, be sure to come prepared to eat, even though these are tastings you will leave quite full!

Great food and conversation! A must do!

After a trip cancellation last year, we decided to rebook this tour because of the great reviews that we read, and I thought it'd be nice to do this tour on our second day in order to get the "lay of the land". Emily did not disappoint. We set up a meeting spot and were on our way. It was great to have someone so knowledgable about food and the area. Emily was engaging, intelligent and super nice. The food was AMAZING. I am still dreaming about the barbacoa and the empanadas. OMG. The awesome thing about taking this tour is that it got us off the main tourist drag (Avenida Quinta), and we were able to navigate ourselves to some favorite restaurants of the locals, as well as, revisit a few of the places from the tour. Thanks Emily!

Delicious, interesting food tour

We were shown a lot of culinary delights in local restaurants in a short time. Where you actually do not go alone. Great tour.
