Full description

Immerse yourself in an ancient world of stalactites and stalagmites with a visit to Rio Secret in Playa del Carmen. Roam the labyrinths of dramatic rock formations and tranquil waters in this hidden underground network of rivers and caves.

Upon arriving at Rio Secreto, meet your guide and receive a wetsuit, wet shoes, a lamp, and a helmet to get ready for the adventure. Then enter the caves, where you have 1968 feet (600 meters) free to walk, swim, and enjoy the enchanting beauty of your surroundings.

After approximately 1.5 hours, you will be taken back to ground level and treated to a light lunch of delicious local food. Choose the green salsa if your taste buds like it hot.

This is a chance for you to relax in the serene jungle habitat and reflect upon your experience in the caves. Next, you may wash and change before heading back to your hotel.

The Rio Secreto is a MUST when vacationing in Playa del Carmen. You have to experience a wonderful tour at a depth of 25m. At the start you drive about 7km by bus into the jungle, where you get your equipment. Then you walk about 1km to the cave. There it goes down, partly running, partly swimming. But you don't have to dive at any time (we even had someone with us who couldn't swim at all, but then a life jacket wasn't a problem). The caves are breathtakingly beautiful! Leo, our guide, did a really great job and explained everything nicely. Afterwards you take the bus back, change your clothes and have a classic Mexican lunch. All in all a really great trip!!

An absolute "secret tip"! The Rio Secreto was only discovered in 2006 and the entire area is a nature reserve. It is beautiful and absolutely an experience not to be missed. It is definitely not for those who are afraid of water or claustrophobic. Our tour guide Dany was an incredibly wonderful person with whom we had a lot of fun and who was able to tell us a lot about flora, fauna and of course the Rio. We had the green tour through the jungle. A real little adventure.

It’s not what I necessarily thought it was but it was a great experience! I thought there would be a view from afar to revel In the water colors and cave as you approach but it’s just entering the cave from the jungle and it’s pitch black dark besides the flashlights used to illuminate your experience. Tour was great and guide was professional. Still recommend.
